The Federation of Hong Kong Industries (“FHKI”) announced that Mr Anthony Lam was elected as a Deputy Chairman at the General Committee meeting on 28 July. His appointment became effective on the same day.
Mr Lam is the Chief Executive Officer and Vice-Chairman of Golden Resources Development International Limited. He is currently the Chairman of FHKI’s Group 8 (Food, Beverages and Tobacco). He actively participates in public service, serving as a member of the Advisory Committee on Agriculture and Fisheries, a member of the Customer Liaison Group for Rice, Trade and Industry Department, and a member of the Re-industrialisation Funding Scheme Vetting Committee etc. He has made significant contribution to the development of Hong Kong’s rice industry and the industrial and commercial sectors.
FHKI Chairman Dr Daniel Yip said, “Mr Lam is a veteran of the rice industry with nearly 30 years of experience, and his company is one of the major rice suppliers in Hong Kong. In recent years, he has expanded his business beyond the rice industry into the investment and development of the convenience store business in Vietnam. I firmly believe that with his industry experience, professional knowledge and leadership, Mr Lam will provide valuable advice for FHKI and help promote the development of Hong Kong’s re-industrialisation.”
Speaking of the prospects of Hong Kong’s industrial development, Mr Lam believes that Hong Kong’s industries, especially those engaging in food and environmental protection, have a lot of potential which enables them to move towards “Industry 4.0”. “The ‘Made in Hong Kong’ brand and ‘Q-Mark’ certification are symbols of assurance and conducive to the industry’s expansion into the markets of the Greater Bay Area and Southeast Asia. Through my work on the newly established Re-industrialisation Funding Scheme Vetting Committee, I hope that we can further help local enterprises transform and reach a new level by utilising new technologies and automation.”
