Both parties will create a mutually beneficial platform and conduct joint programmes to foster the development of Halal industry in a sustainable way.

FHKI Chairman Dr Steve Chuang expressed his faith in helping Hong Kong to develop the Muslim market under the cooperation, as “Q-Mark” has been a pillar of consumer confidence, “FHKI has been supporting the business community over the past 65 years and is committed to exploring new opportunities for the industry. With the global Muslim population exceeding 2 billion, accounting for about 25% of the world population, there is significant market potential. I believe the collaboration with the BOT will empower the community to capitalise on the opportunities brought by the Muslim market.”

The BOT Chairman Saeed Uddin said, “The signing of this MOU today is a historic occasion. The Board of Trustees looks forward to working with the Federation of Hong Kong Industries and collaborate on Halal related initiatives, including, Halal development, knowledge exchange, policy advocacy, and industry promotion. The joint efforts of FHKI & BOT to establish a Halal related Q-Mark for Halal products and services is a significant step towards the development of Halal food standards in Hong Kong. It will encourage both local and overseas food manufacturers to obtain the Mark and gain the confidence of the Halal food consumers.”
