The founding ceremony of the Hong Kong New Industrialisation Development Alliance (the "Alliance Connect") was grandly held on March 18 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, marking a new milestone in cross-sector collaboration for Hong Kong’s new industries and innovation technology development. The ceremony was graced by the presence of the Secretary for Justice of the HKSAR, Paul Lam, as the guest of honor, while the Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry, Sun Dong, delivered a compelling keynote speech. Over 500 distinguished guests from the Government, industry, academia, research, and investment sectors attended to demonstrate their support. Following the launch ceremony, the Alliance Connect hosted its inaugural summit forum, bringing together esteemed representatives to engage in discussions on Hong Kong's innovation and technology development, new industrial landscape, and the advancement of the industrial ecosystem.

　　The establishment of the Alliance Connect was proposed by the Chief Executive of the HKSAR, John Lee, in his 2024 Policy Address, and was coordinated by the Federation of Hong Kong Industries in collaboration with seven other institutions. The Alliance Connect aims to foster close cooperation among the Government, industry, academia, research, and investment sectors, creating a platform to drive Hong Kong's new industralisation and positioning it as a new growth area for the city's economy. It also strives to realise the vision of transforming Hong Kong into an international innovation and technology centre. The founding members include (in no particular order): Federation of Hong Kong Industries(“FHKI”), The Chinese Manufacturers' Association of Hong Kong (“the CMA”), Hong Kong Productivity Council (“HKPC”), Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (“HKSTP”), Vocational Training Council (“VTC”), the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (the “HKIE”), Bank of China Group Investment Limited (“BOCGI”), and Hong Kong New Industrialisation Alliance (“HKNIA”). The Alliance Connect’s first Chairman, Steve Chuang, who is also the Chairman of FHKI, will serve a two year term. The signing and launching ceremony was witnessed by Secretary for Justice Paul Lam, the President of the Legislative Council Hon Andrew Leung, and Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry Sun Dong.

         Following the launch, the Alliance Connect hosted its inaugural summit forum, featuring “Innovation-Driven Future: Shaping Hong Kong's New Industrial Landscape” and “Cross-sectoral Collaboration: Building Hong Kong's Industrial Ecosystem.” The forum included high-profile panelists such as Commissioner for Industry (Innovation and Technology) Ge Ming, and other key industry leaders, who explored the path forward for Hong Kong new industrial development.
