The 64th Annual Luncheon of the Federation of Hong Kong Industries ("FHKI") was successfully held on 6 August 2024 (Tuesday) at the Hong Kong JW Marriott Hotel. The event was graced by the presence of the Chief Executive of the HKSAR, Mr John Lee Ka-chiu, serving as the Guest-of-Honour. Also in attendance were the Director-General of the Coordination Department at the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the HKSAR, Mr Zhu Wen, along with Secretaries from various SAR Government bureaus, representatives from government departments, and friendly organisations, totalling over 450 distinguished guests.
During the welcoming remarks, FHKI Chairman Mr Steve Chuang expressed gratitude for the support from the government and various sectors for the industrial sector. He highlighted the FHKI’s dedication to leading the sector in embracing and advancing Hong Kong’s new industrialisation, fostering new quality productive forces, and propelling Hong Kong’s economy and industrial sector to new heights.
Chief Executive Mr John Lee acknowledged the FHKI's contributions to the development of Hong Kong's industry and commerce over the years during his speech, stating, "The FHKI has consistently led in promoting I&T and new industrialisation, harnessing the collective strength of the industry and leveraging international networks to boost Hong Kong’s new quality productive forces." Lee stated that both local and international investors and talents have strong confidence in Hong Kong’s business and social environment.
Reflecting on the past year, Chairman Chuang noted that despite numerous challenges, Hong Kong should leverage its advantages to explore more business opportunities: "Although global economic slowdown, geopolitical tensions, and weak financial markets have brought more uncertainties to Hong Kong's development, the FHKI believes that opportunities will outweigh challenges in the future. Hong Kong must play the role of a 'super connector' and 'super value creator,' utilizing the advantage of 'backing from the motherland and connecting with the world,' while consolidating our development in traditional Western markets and seeking new partners and markets."
Next year marks the 65th anniversary of the FHKI, the Federation will continue to draw on its past experiences and achievements, united with the industry under the support of the nation and the leadership of the SAR government, to collectively advance the grand vision of "Reinventing Hong Kong Industries," and taking Hong Kong’s economy and industrial sector to unprecedented levels.
