The Hong Kong MedTech Innovation World Cup, hosted by Wearable Technology AG, was successfully held from 4 to 5 March 2026. Partners included Medical Engineering & Innovation Council (MEIC) under the auspices of Federation of Hong Kong Industries (FHKI), TIME Interconnect Technology Limited, Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP), Hong Kong Biotechnology Organisation (HKBIO), Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Biotechnology Alliance (GBABA), and MEDICA. This year’s programme was rich and varied, comprising a series of themed conferences with a focus on health, artificial intelligence and corporate innovation, and featuring the final presentations of the Innovation World Cup series.
The event was formally opened with a Kickoff Ceremony. We were honoured to have Professor Sun Dong, JP, Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry, as the Guest of Honour. Representatives from the organisers and partner organisations delivered opening remarks, including Mr Christian Stammel, CEO of Wearable Technology; Mr Terry Wong, CEO of HKSTP; Dr Simon Cua, Co‑Chairman of MEIC; and Mr Lars Wismer, MEDICA Regional Head. Leadership from FHKI were also present to show their support, including Mr Anthony Lam, Chairman; Mr Peter Shum and Ms Jackie Ng, Deputy Chairmen and Ms Bonnie Chan, Director-General.
At the conference, Dr Alfred Ng, Deputy Chairman, and Dr Steve Chuang, Chairman of the Hong Kong New Industries Development Alliance (HKNIDA), Honorary President of the FHKI and Co‑Chairman of MEIC, served respectively as a member of the judging panel for the World Cup and as a speaker in the panel discussions.
