In August 2026, FHKI submitted its policy recommendations to the 2026 Policy Address to the HKSAR Government. FHKI outlined five key areas to drive Hong Kong's high-quality economic development, with a range of policy initiatives proposed under each area. The key highlights are as follows:
- Accelerating industrial development in the Northern Metropolis – building a new engine for innovation and technology (“I&T”) and high value-added industries;
- Advancing I&T and new industrialisation – enhancing computing power and data infrastructure, and encouraging government adoption of local innovative products;
- Expanding emerging markets and GBA connectivity – leveraging Hong Kong’s standards, certification and professional services to support enterprises in going global;
- Cultivating diversified new growth areas – developing commodities and green metals, intellectual property, the silver economy, low-altitude and aerospace economy, green technologies, and niche consumption sectors;
- Optimising business support and the business environment – building a talent system that aligns with industrial development needs.
