Innovative Pathway: Hong Kong's New Era of Industry" Exhibition
Successfully Concluded, Attracting Nearly 250,000 Visitors

The special exhibition "Innovative Pathway: Hong Kong's New Era of Industry", held at the Hong Kong Science Museum, concluded successfully last Wednesday (2 July), drawing nearly 250,000 visitors and receiving an enthusiastic response from the public.

Chairman of Federation of Hong Kong Industries (FHKI) Dr Steve Chuang expressed his delight at the exhibition’s success in showcasing the history and acheievements of local industrial development. He highlighted that exhibition’s educational value and its role in promoting new industrialisation. “This special exhibition enabled visitors to experience the evolution of Hong Kong industry and its strength in the global technological wave through interactive experience. The exhibition attracted large numbers of visitors from the general public, the industry, and schools, with the STEM education zone proving especially popular among students. For the past 65 years, FHKI has remained committed to advancing industrial development and will continue to lead industrial upgrading and showcase achievements to the public, with the goal of establishing Hong Kong as an International Innovation and Technology Centre,” Dr Chuang stated.

On 1 July, Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry Sun Dong visited the exhibition accompanied by FHKI Executive Deputy Chairman Anthony Lam; Deputy Chairmen Gary Lau, Peter Shum, Jackie Ng; and Chairman of FHKI Group 14 (Hong Kong Mould and Die Council) Felix Choi. His visit demonstrated the HKSAR Government’s strong commitment to advancing new industrialisation in Hong Kong.

As a flagship event, the exhibition was jointly presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department and FHKI, co-organised by the Hong Kong Science Museum and FHKI, and funded by the Innovation Technology Fund of the Innovation and Technology Commission. The exhibition comprised of five sections, namely "Industry Cornerstone”, “Research and Development”, “Smart Manufacturing”, “Industry 4.0” and “2030 Vision”. More than 50 exhibits were on display, including industrial equipment, products, videos, and production demonstrations, vividly illustrating the connection between Hong Kong industry and daily life. The exhibition aimed to enhance public understanding and interest in industry and innovation, inspire innovative thinking among children and young people, and promote STEM education.

To further promote the exhibition, FHKI launched advertising campaigns on buses and trams from May to June, and hosted a tram parade on 13 June, where docents shared the historical links between trams and Hong Kong’ industrial development. The parade attracted nearly 100 participants, including FHKI Honorary President, the President of Legislative Council Hon Andrew Leung, FHKI leadership, members, and other industry representatives. Additionally, FHKI collaborated with a local TV station to produce a five-episode special feature introducing the exhibition and the development of Hong Kong industry.
