FHKI Leads Delegation to Yunnan
Co‑hosts “AI+” Conference with Provincial CPPCC and Signs MoU with Local Chamber
Federation of Hong Kong Industries (FHKI) is leading a delegation on a three‑day visit to Yunnan from 11 to 13 May, at the invitation of the Yunnan Provincial Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (Yunnan CPPCC). During the visit, FHKI co‑hosted the Yunnan–Hong Kong “AI+” Development Conference with the Yunnan CPPCC and the Guangdong-HK-Macao Bay Area Entrepreneurs Alliance (GBA Alliance), and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Yunnan Chamber of Commerce for International Trade and Investment (YCC).
The Conference, officiated by Wang Ning, Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Yunnan Provincial Committee and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the provincial People’s Congress; and Wang Yubo, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Yunnan Provincial Committee and the Governor of Yunnan Province, brought together over 100 industry leaders, scholars and experts from both Yunnan and Hong Kong to facilitate the precise matching of resources and deepen industrial integration. At the event, Bonnie Chan, Director-General of FHKI; and Liu Qilin, Chairman of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, Yunnan Sub-council, and Chairman of YCC, signed an MoU on behalf of their respective organisations. Both parties agreed to collaborate on knowledge exchange, policy advocacy, and industry promotion under the “AI+” theme, jointly driving industrial upgrading and economic development in both regions.
Anthony Lam, Chairman of FHKI, emphasised the significance of this partnership. He stated, “Yunnan is endowed with rich and unique agricultural and Chinese medicinal resources, making it a vital hub for biomedicine and green industries, as well as a crucial gateway connecting the Mainland with Southeast Asia. Through this mission, FHKI aims to forge a robust partnership with Yunnan. Together, we will leverage advanced technologies to upgrade our industries, deepen collaboration in Chinese medicine and biomedicine, and utilise FHKI Global Connect platform to introduce Yunnan’s premium products to emerging markets, unlocking new opportunities.”
Following the opening ceremony, four parallel panel sessions explored the application of AI in advanced manufacturing, plateau agriculture, biomedicine, and ecological governance. FHKI Executive Deputy Chairmen Ricky Chan, Jude Chow, Wallace Wong; FHKI Mainland Affairs Committee Chairman Sze Kam-shing; and FHKI Group 33 (Biotechnology and Healthcare Council) Chairman Prof Jimmy Tao participated as speakers. They shared insights into Hong Kong’s sectoral expertise and highlighted the city’s role as a “super value-adder”.
The delegation’s itinerary also includes visits to leading local enterprises, such as Yunnan Provincial Energy Investment Group Co., Ltd., iFLYTEK Artificial Intelligence Experience Center, and Sino-Platinum Metals Co.,Ltd. On the final day, the group will tour the Yunnan Baiyao Group Co., Ltd. and Kunming Dounan Flower Market to gain in-depth insights into Yunnan’s modern supply chains, cold chain logistics, and smart trading for plateau agriculture, while exploring potential collaborations in agri-technology and business matching.
Led by Chairman Anthony Lam, the FHKI delegation comprises 18 industry representatives. Key members include FHKI Executive Deputy Chairmen Ricky Chan, Jude Chow, and Wallace Wong; alongside Director-General Bonnie Chan. They are joined by corporate representatives spanning sectors such as chemicals, biotechnology and healthcare, information technology, proservices, garment and textiles, as well as members from the Federation of Hong Kong Agricultural Associations.
