FHKI Signs MoU with Syrdarya Regional Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Uzbekistan
Seizing Opportunities in Central Asian Emerging Markets and Strengthening Hong Kong’s Role as a Two-way Gateway

 

  Federation of Hong Kong Industries ("FHKI") signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) yesterday (1 April) with the Syrdarya Regional Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Republic of Uzbekistan. The partnership aims to foster exchanges and cooperation in areas such as economy, trade, human resources development, and sustainable growth, building a stronger bridge for enterprises from both regions to create a new landscape of connectivity.

 

  The signing ceremony was held at FHKI. The MoU was signed by Ms Bonnie Chan, Director-General of FHKI, and Mr Mansurov Aziz, Chairman of the Syrdarya Regional Chamber of Commerce and Industry, witnessed by Mr Anthony Lam, Chairman of FHKI; Ms Clara Chan, Executive Deputy Chairman of FHKI; Mr Erkinjon Turdimov, Governor of Syrdarya Region; and HE Arziev Farhod, Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the People's Republic of China.

 

  Mr Anthony Lam, Chairman of FHKI, highlighted that Uzbekistan is the most populous country in Central Asia. Leveraging its unique position as a 'super-connector', Hong Kong can facilitate deeper economic and trade ties between the Chinese Mainland and Central Asia while connecting them to global markets. He stated: "FHKI is actively expanding its 'FHKI Global Connect' platform to facilitate the integration of enterprises with global emerging markets. Through this partnership with the Syrdarya Regional Chamber of Commerce and Industry, we will continue to deepen cross-regional cooperation and reinforce Hong Kong’s role as a two-way gateway for 'attracting investments and going global.' This collaboration will assist the industry in exploring the Uzbek and broader Central Asian markets to capture international business opportunities."

 

  Mr Erkinjon Turdimov, Governor of Syrdarya Region, shared his vision for the region’s development, noting its emergence as a pioneer of innovation in Uzbekistan by drawing inspiration from the Chinese development model. He stated: "Syrdarya Region is committed to fostering a high degree of innovation and industrial advancement. Syrdarya Region offers a compelling first-mover opportunity for Hong Kong businesses. We are eager to engage Hong Kong’s world-class enterprises to explore multifaceted opportunities in investments, trade, culture, and tourism."
