FHKI Signed MoU with SCC to Boost the Development of Smart City

Enhancing Quality of Lives for Hong Kong Citizens

 

　　Federation of Hong Kong Industries (FHKI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Smart City Consortium (SCC) yesterday (4 July), marking the beginning of new collaboration aimed at promoting Hong Kong as a leading Smart City and cultivating talent and technology in related fields.

 

　　The signing ceremony took place at SCC’s booth at the Learning & Teaching Expo 2025 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Witnessed by FHKI Executive Deputy Chairman Anthony Lam and Council of SCC President Gary Yeung, FHKI Deputy Chairman Peter Shum and Council of SCC Vice President Dr Daniel Chun signed the MoU.

 

　　According to the MoU, both parties will leverage on their extensive industry networks and expertise to collaborate on a series of smart city-related seminars, training programs, and research activities, particularly in fostering industry transformation and smart city technologies. FHKI and SCC will also organise industry visits for their members and SMEs, and share relative expertise, experience and information regularly to ensure contribution to the development of Hong Kong as a leading smart city and benefit industry upgrading and people’s living quality.

 

　　FHKI Executive Deputy Chairman Anthony Lam expects the collaboration could inject impetus into high quality development by integrating resources from both sides in the aspects of “industry upgrading” and “smart tech”. In his speech, he said, “The cooperation between FHKI and SCC is vital to keep pace with the times and respond to the needs of development. Through systematic learning and skills training, we aim to master key capabilities to lead future development, igniting the fires of ‘Hong Kong industry upgrading’ and ‘smart development’, to enhance a solid foundation for Hong Kong’s long-term prosperity, stability and competitiveness.”

 

　　President of the Council of SCC, Gary Yeung, expressed in his speech, “The signing of the MoU between the FHKI and the SCC marks a significant milestone in our joint commitment to advancing smart city development. By combining our resources and expertise, we will offer cutting-edge micro-credential training to industry and the public, with a particular focus on empowering the industry, SMEs and startups to adopt new technologies and best practices. This partnership not only strengthens Hong Kong’s capacity for innovation but also lays a solid foundation for the sustainable growth of a smarter, better city for all."
