FHKI and HKSTP Co-organise “Innopreneur Experience Journey” Cohort 5

Promoting Industry-Education and Science-Education Integration

 

　　Co-organised by the Federation of Hong Kong Industries (FHKI) and the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP), Cohort 5 of the “Innopreneur Experience Journey” commenced on 16 July. This year’s programme brings together 22 companies from AI, electronics, Life and Health Technology and other sectors to mentor 59 students from 28 secondary schools through a series of I&T and new industry-related activities, including work experience opportunities, company visits, and networking and exchange programmes. The initiative aims to help students gain early exposure to the latest developments and opportunities in innovation and technology as well as Hong Kong’s industrial sector, gain first-hand exposure to real workplace environments and required skill set, and inspire their interests and aspirations while broadening their perspectives for future career planning.

 

　　The opening ceremony was held at Sino InnoLab in Yuen Long. Ricky Chan, Executive Deputy Chairman of FHKI, said, “New industries are key to Hong Kong’s future, and talent development is fundamental to their growth. FHKI is pleased to partner with HKSTP again to give students early exposure to innovation, technology and industry, as well as research and industry-related work. Through this project, we hope to broaden students’ horizons, strengthen their innovative and practical capabilities, and inspire the younger generation to better understand the new face of Hong Kong industry and its development opportunities. This will help lay a solid foundation for nurturing a local talent pool for Hong Kong’s new industries.”

 

　　Fanny Wong, Chief Talent Officer of HKSTP, shared, “Marking our fifth partnership with FHKI, we continue to foster deep integration between the I&T ecosystem and the industrial sector. In today’s booming tech landscape, I&T extends far beyond the lab, seamlessly blending into daily life and diverse sectors. With 'AI+' as this year's focus, we encourage students to think beyond boundaries, expand their perspectives, and set an inspiring benchmark for their career journeys. Regardless of their future industry, AI can be a powerful driver in unleashing their potential.”

 

　　After the ceremony, students visited Sino InnoLab to experience innovative technologies and application scenarios, followed by a visit to Dunwell Enviro-Tech (Holdings) Ltd, a FHKI member company and HKSTP partner company, located at the Yuen Long InnoPark.

 

　　The “Innopreneur Experience Journey” has been generously sponsored by Sino Group and the Hong Kong Innovation Foundation for five consecutive years. It is delivered in partnership with four organisations, listed in alphabetical order: the Child Development Initiative Alliance, the Chinese YMCA of Hong Kong Tsuen Wan Centre, the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals, and the Po Leung Kuk Life Planning and Financial Education Centre. Over the past four cohorts, the programme has provided more than 200 secondary school students with experiences that combine technology, innovation and industry.
