Even though 2020 marks a year of formidable challenges for Hong Kong industries, many industrialists have mapped out quick-to-deploy business strategies under the new normal to build resilience and conquer adversity. With immense creativity, technology know-how alongside the insatiable desire to innovate, these industrialists have surmounted the challenges with great capabilities to unlock new growth. Thus, the presentation of IOY and YIAH has served as a medal for excellence, in recognition of the exceptional contributions made by award-winning industrialists.

FHKI Chairman Dr Daniel Yip said: “This year, we have received many high-quality nominations in the preliminary round. This has shown a strong pool of promising industrialists in Hong Kong. Following rigorous assessments by the judging panel, 10 industrialists were shortlisted as YIAH winners. Their businesses cover a wide range of industries, spanning across plastic products, electronic and electrical products, hospitality and aviation supplies, telecommunications, clocks and watches, pharmaceuticals, and textiles and accessories. YIAH will continue to be a source of encouragement for the younger generations to pursue a career in the industrial sector, thereby injecting a fresh impetus to industry growth. With concerted efforts in re-industrialisation being put in place by the Government, we are stepping forward in revitalising legacy industries and scaling industrial success to new heights.”

This year, Dr Lee Wan-keung is honoured the Industrialist of the Year Award, by the judging panel unanimously for his remarkable accomplishments.
