FHKI Celebrates 65th Annual General Meeting with New Leadership
Anthony Lam Elected as Chairman for 2025-27 Term
Federation of Hong Kong Industries (FHKI) convened its 65th Annual General Meeting (AGM) and General Committee Meeting today (7 August), marking a pivotal moment as Anthony Lam was elected Chairman of FHKI for the 2025-27 term. Joining him in leadership are five Executive Deputy Chairmen: Ricky Chan, Clara Chan, Hon Sunny Tan, Jude Chow, and Wallace Wong. The team is further bolstered by five Deputy Chairmen: Karen Chan, Gary Lau, Peter Shum, Jackie Ng and Dr Alfred Ng.
At the Annual Dinner held in the evening, FHKI was honoured to have our Chief Executive John Lee, and Deputy Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Yin Zhonghua as our guests of honour. The event was attended by over 650 guests. During his speech, Chief Executive John Lee congratulated the new leadership, “FHKI has weathered many storms throughout periods of economic transformation, emerging stronger and more resilient on each occasion. It has witnessed the cycles of industrial rise and fall, and the result has invariably been a more robust Federation.”
Anthony Lam, the newly elected Chairman, brings extensive experience in the food and retail sectors. He currently serves at a Hong Kong-listed company that is one of the city’s leading rice suppliers, managing rice sourcing, processing, packaging, marketing and sales. The company’s operations span Asia, North America, Europe, and Australia. Chairman Lam has upheld a spirit of bold experimentation and innovation, actively expanding into new markets such as ASEAN countries, investing in retail and logistics, enhancing product quality, and developing new products to meet public demand. Chairman Lam also holds numerous public roles, including Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Agriculture and Fisheries under the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department, Chairman of the Agricultural Park Advisory Committee, and Member of the Vetting Committee of the Re-industrialisation Funding Scheme under the Innovation and Technology Fund. He has been awarded the Chief Executive’s Commendation for Community Service in Hong Kong and the Ap Bac Medal by the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
Looking ahead to his two-year term, Chairman Lam expressed confidence in Hong Kong’s ability to turn adversity into opportunity amid global political and economic shifts. He stated, “I am committed to advancing high-end manufacturing, new industrialisation, and innovation and technology transformation. I will promote deeper collaboration across Government, industry, academia, research, and investment sectors, as well as regional integration with the Greater Bay Area, to establish a comprehensive new industrial ecosystem and position Hong Kong as an International I&T Centre. At the same time, I will lead FHKI to seize the opportunities presented by the Mainland’s dual circulation strategy and RCEP, and to fully support Hong Kong businesses in exploring new markets along the Belt and Road and across the Global South. We aim to enhance the competitiveness of Hong Kong’s industrial supply chains and enterprises, strengthen connectivity with the Mainland and international markets, and fulfil our role as both a ‘super-connector’ and a ‘super value-adder’. In doing so, we will continue to shine the golden signboard of Brand•Hong Kong.”
FHKI Honorary President Dr Steve Chuang congratulated Chairman Lam on his election and the inauguration of the new General Committee, and expressed his gratitude to the previous General Committee members for their full support and contributions. During his tenure, Dr Chuang dedicated himself to promoting I&T and the development of the new industrialisation ecosystem. He spearheaded the joint establishment of the Hong Kong New Industrialisation Development with seven other organisations and was elected its inaugural Chairman. He also actively followed up on the planning and development of the Northern Metropolis and frequently submitted views to the Government on various policies affecting the industry. Many of FHKI's policy proposals received a positive response from the Government. Dr Chuang wishes the industry to continue seizing opportunities, saying, “Hong Kong’s business community has always been flexible and adaptable, rising stronger in the face of various challenges. As industrialists, we care about and participate in social development. I believe under the leadership of FHKI, the industry will continue to innovate and change in all aspects, while leveraging its strengths as a ‘super connector’ with strong internal and external connections to expand markets, creating more opportunities for the industry and society, and continuing to flourish together with Hong Kong.”
