Reese's Law was passed in the United States in August 2022. As mandated by this legislation, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issued a notice of proposed rulemaking (NPR) to establish performance and labeling requirements to prevent children from accidentally ingesting button cell or coin batteries.
FHKI Group 22 (Hong Kong Watch and Clock Council), in collaboration with the Hong Kong Watch Manufacturers Association and the Federation of Hong Kong Watch Trades & Industries, successfully co-organised a seminar titled “Impact of Reese’s Law on the Watch and Clock Industry” on 11 September 2024 at FHKI. The seminar featured presentations by Mr Andy Leung from Intertek Testing Services Hong Kong Ltd., and Mr Philip Wong from Swissam Products Limited – Movado Group Inc. They conducted an in-depth discussion and explanation of the contents of Reese's Law and its potential impact on the watch export industry, as well as sharing experiences related to the application of relevant regulations with the members.
The seminar aimed to provide participants with the opportunity to interact and exchange industry news with industry partners, thereby capturing the latest market information.
