Secretary for Labour and Welfare Dr Law Chi-kwong presented awards to winners of FHKI’s Industry Cares CSR Scheme

Secretary for Labour and Welfare Dr Law Chi-kwong presented the Grand Caring Awards of the Federation of Hong Kong Industries’ (FHKI) Industry Cares Recognition Scheme 2017 to winners of Enterprise and SME Groups at the FHKI’s 5th Industry Cares Recognition Scheme Presentation Ceremony held today (26 September). Chun Wo Development Holdings Ltd and Fimmick Ltd were awarded Grand Caring Awards under the Enterprise Group and SME Group respectively.

Now in its fifth year and being one of the deliverables of FHKI’s Committee on Promoting Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), the Industry Cares Recognition Scheme aims to inculcate the importance of CSR to the industries and encourage companies to integrate CSR spirit and culture in their daily operations.

FHKI Chairman Jimmy Kwok said, “In line with a sustainable development in economy, society and environment, CSR activities demonstrate enterprises’ concerns about the environmental and social impact they will bring to the community. Based on the recent concept of ‘shared value’ as advocated by the society, enterprises should integrate CSR projects with their businesses and create a better society by fully utilising their resources.”

“It surely benefits both the community and the company itself if enterprises integrate CSR activities into their business but not treat them as merely voluntary events. And above all, they will continue to devote more resources to CSR projects and build CSR as a popular corporate culture in order to achieve the purpose of resource sharing,” Mr Kwok continued.

The judging panel of this year’s Scheme was chaired by Efficiency Unit Deputy Head Patricia Lau. Other members include Hang Seng Management College President Prof Simon Ho; The Hong Kong Council of Social Service Business Director Crystal Cheng; China Construction Bank (Asia) Assistant General Manager Clarence Lam; and FHKI Honourary President Prof Cliff Sun.
