The FHKI Inaugurates its International Affairs Committee to
     Foster Overseas Connections

The Federation of Hong Kong Industries (FHKI) inaugurates today (Monday) its International Affairs Committee (IAC) with a cocktail reception attracting a strong turnout of over 120 attendees, including guest-of-honour Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development Gregory So, representatives from over 40 countries and places, FHKI leadership, as well as members of its General Committee, industry groups, councils, and functional committees.

FHKI Chairman Prof Daniel M Cheng said the IAC was established in October last year with the aim to create and strengthen relations and communications between Hong Kong industries and countries abroad.

"The objectives of the IAC are to help Hong Kong industries gain a stronger foothold in global markets; establish the FHKI’s role and profile as the liaison between global business communities and local manufacturers; and connect FHKI members to global peers and governing bodies," Prof Cheng added.

IAC Chairman Sunny Tan said first and foremost the work scope of IAC will be dedicated to gradually strengthen the FHKI’s international presence.

"The IAC will serve as a platform to receive visiting overseas officials and delegations, and as the networks gradually establish, we will collect and provide our members with first-hand market intelligence to facilitate them to explore business opportunities overseas," Mr Tan explained.

Sunny Tan has three vice-chairmen, Stanford Kuo, Bernie Ting and Ricky Chan to assist him. Together with an Executive Committee comprising members with background and expertise ranging from textile and garments, toys, watches and jewellery, electronics, chemicals and banking, the IAC is well positioned to serve the needs of FHKI members in their endeavour to broaden their international outreach.
