  • SME Development Fund

FHKI has successfully got funding by the HKSAR Government SME Development Fund (SDF) to launch various projects to provide support to SMEs in Hong Kong in enhancing their competitiveness.

    Project details:

    1. Moving into the Internet of Things (IoT) and Wireless Era: Opportunities & Development of Hong Kong Electronics Industry

      Project Period: March 2016 – September 2017
Keep the Hong Kong Electronics Industry abreast of the regulations, standards and requirements under the IoT & wireless applications.

    2. A Support Programme for Assisting Hong Kong SMEs to Effectively Achieve Hazardous Substances Process Management System

      Project Period: February 2014 – August 2015
Many overseas buyers have increasingly put the IECQ QC 080000 HSPM System (QC 080000) elements as part of their sourcing requirements. However, most of the SMEs in Hong Kong are not yet fully aware the effectiveness and importance of the system. Hong Kong Green Manufacturing Alliance of the Federation, in association with the Hong Kong Productivity Council, is launching a 18-month support programme, aiming to spur industry-wide actions on the awareness and adoption of the QC 080000 for SMEs.

A series of seminars and training workshops will be held from October 2014 to May 2015 to assist SMEs in applying QC 080000 on their business in order to enhance competitiveness and providing support for responding product non-compliance and product recalls.

Based on the results of industry consultation visits for pioneer companies which have successful experience in adopting QC 080000, e-Fact Sheets and an Application Guide will be published to facilitate SMEs by providing steps of how to integrate QC080000 into their own manufacturing system.

    3. Brand Development of the Hong Kong Environmental Industry

      Project Period: August 2012 – April 2014
Hong Kong environmental industry is in its early development stage and faces various challenges. To help strengthen the business skills of SMEs in Hong Kong, Hong Kong Environmental Industry Association Limited (HKEnvIA) was being granted the TID SME Development Fund to organise a series of training workshops and produce a research report on “Brand Development of the Hong Kong Environmental Industry”.

A series of 12 training workshops were held from October 2012 to December 2013, aiming to enhance SMEs’ business skills with the application of environmental techniques and technology.

A research report on “Brand Development of the Hong Kong Environmental Industry” was developed to inform SMEs about a package of measures and suggestions on how to brand themselves in the local environmental industry.

    4. Challenges, Opportunities and Strategic Responses of Logistics SMEs under the National 12th Five-Year Plan

      Project Period: November 2012 – December 2013
This project studied the development of the markets, the evolution of the Hong Kong logistics industry, the benefits and limitations of different policies and the condition of small and medium-sized logistics enterprises (SMLEs).

Speakers from the Government, academia and logistics industry were invited to share their insights with the industry at 4 different seminars. A series of in-depth interviews with SMLEs, models of successful cases were constructed. The final study report and an advisory kit presented the industry’s best practice recommendations to SMLEs.
