The Federation of Hong Kong Industries (FHKI) today (Tuesday) announced the opening of nominations for the Young Industrialist Awards of Hongkong (YIAH) and Industrialist of the Year Award (IOY) 2008. FHKI chairman Clement Chen presented appointment certificates to the YIAH Ambassadors – Alfred Au, managing director of Inmold Technology Ltd; Steve Chuang, CEO of Protronic (Far East) Ltd; YY Hung, chairman & managing director of Regina Miracle International Ltd; and Wong Man-li, chairman of Man Wah Holdings Co Ltd; at the launching ceremony held at JW Marriott Hotel.
The FHKI first organised the YIAH in 1988 to give public recognition to the outstanding achievements of Hong Kong’s young industrialists. In 2002, the FHKI added the IOY to the awards list to honour an outstanding industrialist each year to commend his or her significant contributions to industry and the community. There is no age limit for the IOY.
Clement Chen said, “These 145 awardees capitalise on their passion, determination, diligence and entrepreneurial spirit to bring forth remarkable personal achievements. In the meantime, they have also inspired and energised the local manufacturing industry, sustaining Hong Kong’s competitive edge in the world market. Economic development in the Mainland in the last two decades is astonishing. With manufacturing activities relocated to the PRD on a large scale, the adjustments of industrial policies have urged the manufacturing industries to turn to higher value-added production. We can now see a new era of manufacturing coming, and we believe our young generation possesses the vision and innovation spirit to inspire the whole industry towards the betterment of Hong Kong industry.”
