One Factory-One Year-One Environmental Project

BE A One-One-One MEMBER

For the One-One-One Programme, the Federation invites all companies to take part. After signing in to the programme, the company is a member. More than that, membership is treated, assessed and recognised as a continual forward process where, at the pinnacle, your company stands the chance to receive the supreme recognition as Green Industrialist of the Year. This is one of the three levels of recognition:

  • Green Participant (Level One)
  • Green Medalist (Level Two)
  • Best Environmental Project / Green Industrialist of the Year (Supreme Level)

Green Participant

At opening, level one, the company proposes at least one environmental project for implementation. Such a project should be selected from any one of seven categories (see Project Selection).

Green Medalist

Upon successful and cumulative completion of three or more environmental projects, the participating company is recognised with a Green Medal for its efforts. With the recognition, the company is entitled to display the official Green Medal logo on its letterheads, envelopes, compliment slips, advertising and promotional materials for three years.

Best Environmental Project / Green Industrialist of the Year

Each year, from various participants, the Best Environmental Project award will go to the most outstanding effort in each of the seven categories. From among these top awards will be selected the Green Industrialist of the Year.

Project Selection

  1. Energy Conservation: incorporation of energy saving mechanisms or adoption of renewable energy, etc.
  2. Water Management: incorporation of water saving mechanisms, water recycling, etc.
  3. Waste Discharge Reduction & Treatment: proper handling and reduction of solid wastes, liquid wastes, hazardous & chemical wastes, etc.
  4. Recycling of Resources: incorporation of technology and systems to recycle resources
  5. Air Emissions: reduction of vehicular emissions, reduction of air emissions from production, etc. or improvement of indoor air quality
  6. Noise Abatement: elimination of noise, or noise reduction measures, etc.
  7. Green Management:

7a. Product Eco-design: incorporation of environment friendly features into product design

7b. Cleaner Production: incorporation of measures in the production processes that result in a lesser environment burden or impact

7c. Green Procurement: use of environment friendly products that result in a lesser environment burden or impact

7d.  Corporate Governance: environment reporting, sustainability reporting, etc.

(Participants are free to decide on their own project details and timeframe. Yet they are advised to submit a description of the project they intend to implement and the corresponding timetable)

Things to remember when establishing an environmental objective

  • Realistic - To allow both management and employees to feel that the targets can be reached within the determined time scale without over-stretching resources.
  • Specific - To be clear enough for staff members to follow.
  • Measurable - To allow for an evaluation of progress and a measure of success.
  • Challenging - To motivate staff members to strive for continuous improvement.
  • Consistent with organizational objectives - So that the targets set can deliver real benefits to the organization without conflict to its organizational interests.
  • Corporate-wide - To allow for ample achievement through the concerted efforts of all members of the organization.
