Design Council of Hong Kong
The Design Council of Hong Kong was established by the FHKI in 1968 with an aim to promote Hong Kong design in the global market.
Currently, the Council is the organiser of the category of Consumer Product Design under the Hong Kong Awards for Industries (HKAI), which aims at promoting and recognising the importance of product design in Hong Kong, and encouraging the local entrepreneurs to improve the design, research and development of their products.
To enhance sustainability and maintain competitive edge, Hong Kong companies must transform from original equipment manufacturing (OEM) to original design manufacturing (ODM) and even original brand manufacturing (OBM) by injecting more value-added designs to products. To assist industries in meeting these challenges, the Council plays a leading role, providing a contributing platform for industrialists, designers, academia and professionals of marketing and advertising to meet and work towards elevating design standards. The Council shall leverage various valuable resources to produce a favorable environment for the betterment of Hong Kong industries.
