The surge of production cost in mainland China, coupled with the ever-increasing raw material price, exerts much pressure on the industry. While the economy of our major export markets is slowing down, exports of watches and clocks would be affected.
We remain optimistic about the industry¡¦s future development, but at the same time see that competing on cost is no longer possible amid the rise of Mainland enterprises. The industry must enhance the products¡¦ value in order to achieve long-term success. Resources should be devoted to product design, research of new materials, high-precision equipment as well as brand building. To catch more opportunities, a proactive approach to develop new markets is needed.
