The frequent changes of Mainland laws and regulations have created a lot of difficulties for the toys industry. The impact on overall cost is huge as tax rebates are eliminated or reduced. Material cost remains high and we are facing price pressure from clients. Thus, small factories without strong financial backup will find it very difficult to survive under the current situation where high capital investment drives low profit.

With the emergence of new technology, rapid changes in lifestyle and social culture, it is challenging to invent product designs accordingly. To support the development of the industry, design and technology talents are required, yet current skills supply is unable to match the demand. We hope that through the FHKI, we are able to gain the necessary Government support and convince local universities to devote resources into developing talents required by the toys industry.

With the changing industrial landscape, the future will see only companies with strong financial background and the capability to utilise technology and innovation maintain their market position.
