Over the past 20 years, Hong Kong-funded mould and die factories have immensely contributed to the development of the PRD. The industry has already successfully established a competitive manufacturing base in the region, with around one million technical workers and experts working at some ten thousand enterprises engaging in mould and die manufacturing and related works.

The industry outlook is promising as demand for automobile components is spiraling upwards. Indeed, a large number of overseas manufacturers are sourcing from Hong Kong mould and die manufacturers as we have strong production capability and offer price-competitive, high-quality products in short lead time.

To cope with the rapid development of the industry, talents specialising in sales & marketing, engineering, computer software applications as well as CAD/CAM designs are required. I hope that the Hong Kong and Mainland governments can strengthen cooperation in manpower training, thereby create an environment conducive to the industry’s development.
