Welcome to the website of the Federation of Hong Kong Industries. Here we provide you with a comprehensive description of our services and activities, and keep you updated on the latest industrial and business developments in Hong Kong and the Mainland, especially the Pearl River Delta (PRD) region.
Throughout the Federation's 47-year history, it has focused its efforts on the modernisation of local industry so that Hong Kong companies and their products stay competitive in world markets. This journey has been one of continuous change, in which the Federation has both led and supported industrial, economic and social progress in Hong Kong.
Established three and a half years ago, the FHKI's PRD Council now offers a wide range of services for Hong Kong manufacturers with operations in the delta region. Its six offices, strategically located across Guangdong, have helped our membership form a close network to share business information, views about issues and investment ideas. This is highly useful to them in tapping new opportunities made available by the fast growing economy in the Mainland. The Council has also organised frequent meetings with government officials of various PRD cities to enable members to obtain first-hand information and reflect views on new regulations and polices that might affect their operations.
An issue that cuts across the geographical boundary between Hong Kong and the PRD is environmental protection. The 1-1-1 Programme and Green Manufacturing Alliance (GMA) that we launched in early 2005 to promote sustainable development and facilitate green production are now into their second successful year. As of today, over 110 companies have already joined “Triple-One”, committing more than 220 projects. As for the GMA, since its inception we have successfully organised 28 seminars and workshops across a broad spectrum of industry sectors to assist manufacturers in understanding and complying with the requirements under EU’s RoHS and WEEE Directives. The work of the Alliance will continue and expand into the Mainland after the implementation of RoHS and WEEE to cultivate a green production culture that goes beyond the two directives.
Our members are our stakeholders and the most important assets of the Federation. In the past year, we took active steps to forge a closer bond with and between members. Individual industry groups now meet regularly, enabling them to be in touch with the Federation and with their counterparts more often.
